Much more than physical therapy

Holistic Approach

We work alongside you to get to the heart of what is holding you back by combining manual therapy, functional therapeutic yoga, and purposeful strength training. Bring on the pain-free running, jumping with your kiddos, laughing, and relaxing!

Lifestyle Focus

You know a few exercises and poses aren't truly the fix. Let's take a deep look at how you move each day, how you eat, sleep, and even how you think about your condition, and start tweaking them, so that your relief lasts.

What to expect at your visit

  • This means no one to forget what's going on with you, or do things differently than your therapist last week. No feeling like you are in a restaurant looking for your server!

  • Shouldn't it be? Especially if you are coming for a sensitive topic, like pelvic health or breast cancer rehab. No techs or aides.

  • We are thorough and accurate in finding and treating the source of your pain/movement dysfunction. This time is necessary. Every additional treatment visit is at least 60 minutes, and we'll be looking at only you, not a screen.

  • Visits take place either in our relaxing private studio in South Knoxville, or in YOUR Knoxville/Jefferson County home. Yes, house calls. Because we know that coming to a clinic is not always the best option for every patient.

  • After all, it's just the two of us. We understand childcare can be difficult. The floor is even padded!

  • There may be discomfort for certain periods during your visit, but nothing we do should hurt, so tell us if it does so we can adjust a treatment.

  • Just so you KNOW you're doing things correctly, not just guessing off a piece of paper. After hours texting or emails is also available for all patients.

 FAQs

    1. We’ll chat for a while about the reason for your visit and any concerns you have.

    2. Next, Dr. Janine will evaluate your spine and hip motion.

    3. After that insight, she’ll do a pelvic exam (if you are comfortable). Don’t worry… no speculum or stirrups involved. With only one finger, the exam should not hurt. This exam can be over when you’re ready. You’re in control!

    4. After Dr. Janine tests muscle strength and feels for tender points/scar tissue, we will talk about what can be optimized to get you leak-free and pain-free down there!

    • We start out with an interview to discover your goals, struggles, medical history, pelvic history, and what your current/past life is like. All this is the same as in-person.

    • Just like an in-person visit, everything is based on your comfort level. Dr. Janine will ask you to do a series of spinal and hip movements to determine contributions to your pelvic or abdominal concerns.

    • Then, if you are comfortable, we will proceed with a pelvic exam (modified for virtual visits). Dr. Janine will use her pelvis model as a guide while you grab a hand-held mirror. Feel free to turn your camera off at this point. She will walk you through an external and internal exam by demonstrating on the pelvic model. You look in the mirror and tell her what you feel and see.

    • If you are not comfortable with the modified pelvic exam, Dr. Janine will still be able to create a great, tailored pelvic rehab program based on your interview and hip/spinal motions.

    • Future visits may involve internal or external treatment and will include exercises (deep core, hip strengthening/stretching, etc.).

    • You are in the driver’s seat and Dr. Janine is your well-educated navigator. Everything goes at your comfort level. Addressing your pelvic health concerns can be scary and Dr. Janine understands that first-hand.

  • Visits take place in our small relaxing private studio in South Knoxville, or in YOUR home through telehealth. Because we truly care, and know that coming to a clinic is not always the best option for every patient.

  • No. Tennessee is a direct access state, meaning you do not need a referral. If insurance does require it, we will be sure to communicate appropriately with your Medical Provider.

  • We are in-network with several insurance companies. We also offer affordable, transparent self-pay rate. No unexpected bills in the mail!

  • Your initial evaluation will be 90-120 minutes. Yes, we are THAT concerned with being thorough and accurate in your care. To truly find and treat the source of your pain/movement dysfunction and all aspects of it, this time is necessary.

Every other treatment visit is at least 60 minutes, and we'll be looking at you and only you.
