FAQs

  • YES! Virtual Pelvic Health works and we’ve got the research to back it up. Click this link to find out more.

Dr. Janine has been using telehealth for women experiencing painful sex, endometriosis, birth injury recovery, breast feeding related pain, and more. Her telehealth patients have experienced improvement and lasting relief.

Not to mention the added benefit of not dealing with your makeup, traffic, a baby blow-out, etc!

    • We start out with an interview to discover your goals, struggles, medical history, pelvic history, and what your current/past life is like. All this is the same as in-person.

    • Just like an in-person visit, everything is based on your comfort level. Dr. Janine will ask you to do a series of spinal and hip movements to determine contributions to your pelvic or abdominal concerns.

    • Then, if you are comfortable, we will proceed with a pelvic exam (modified for virtual visits). Dr. Janine will use her pelvis model as a guide while you grab a hand-held mirror. Feel free to turn your camera off at this point. She will walk you through an external and internal exam by demonstrating on the pelvic model. You look in the mirror and tell her what you feel and see.

    • If you are not comfortable with the modified pelvic exam, Dr. Janine will still be able to create a great, tailored pelvic rehab program based on your interview and hip/spinal motions.

    • Future visits may involve internal or external treatment and will include exercises (deep core, hip strengthening/stretching, etc.).

    • You are in the driver’s seat and Dr. Janine is your well-educated navigator. Everything goes at your comfort level. Addressing your pelvic health concerns can be scary and Dr. Janine understands that first-hand.

  • You are right; INTERNAL pelvic floor physical therapy should not be performed until 6 weeks after birth or you are cleared by your birth provider, but external (pelvic) physical therapy is absolutely safe, helpful, and indicated! People don’t wait six weeks after knee surgery to start rehab- they start it the next day. Birth is the same, but not all providers recognize that, YET.

  • Yes, it's possible to fix diastasis recti without surgery. Surgery is rarely performed to fix diastasis recti. Healthcare providers will recommend physical therapy to help heal diastasis long before surgical methods. You’re in the right place!

  • YES! Call us. We know you will leave leave better than you found us. Whether we direct you to the right place or help you ourselves, you’ll be glad you called.
